Why is the observer called september

As a result, they tended to call him "The Observer". The name "September" is merely a codename, similar to the codenames given to all of the other scientists. Each codename refers to a month in the year. September believed he was merely fulfilling his duties as a scientist when he went to Walternate's Harvard Lab in It was here that he expected to witness the man discover the cure for Peter Bishop, who was dying.

Instead, however, September accidentally distracted Walternate. Walternate turned to look at his unexpected visitor and missed the indicator color-change in the compound that signaled the cure had been successfully created.

By the time September left, the indicator had vanished and Walternate missed the chance to cure his son. September expressed his concerns to his fellow Observers. They acknowledged that September's actions would be dangerous. He had inadvertently changed the outcome of the timeline.

Peter Bishop, who should have lived, would now die. This could not be because even one life could dramatically alter the timeline. Walter Bishop of the Primary Universe crossed over to administer the cure to Peter himself. He took Peter with him back to the Primary Universe.

However, tragedy struck and the two plummeted through the ice on Reiden Lake immediately after crossing universes. September saved both of them from drowning. He explained to Walter that one day, he would need a favor from him and then disappeared, and gave him a brief demonstration of his ability to read minds.

Witnessing the strong bonds of love between a father and son, Walternate worked tirelessly to save his dying son and Walter crossed universes to save the same boy, stirred something in September.

He came to the realization that his own son was important to him, a trait Observers had abandoned long ago. He seemingly came to this conclusion while he was in the car with Walter. Vocalizing his thoughts, he said, "The boy is important. He has to live. September believed that his intervention would be the end of the problem forever. He was dramatically wrong, however. Walter's crossing over had been unnatural and broken the barrier between both universes, setting them on a collision course.

The two worlds were now headed for war- a war that was never meant to be. Perhaps even more drastic, Peter Bishop's life played out very differently, as he was now a resident of an entirely new universe. The consequences of this would not be felt for many years.

Like September, the other Observers appear to be named after months, including "August" and "December". The episode "Inner Child" introduces the Fringe division to a child that appears to possess many Observer-like qualities. In the episode "Peter", September is a catalyst in Walter's abduction of Peter from the parallel universe; September arrived wanting to see the creation of the cure by Walternate that would have saved Peter, but instead distracted Walternate from witnessing a critical test result.

When September saw Walter watching through the window-like device, he informed his fellow Observers that he could correct the situation; later, after Walter returned with young Peter to the prime universe and fell through the frozen lake's ice, September rescued them from the freezing water and told Walter, "The child must live". September and the other Observers have since monitored Walter and Peter. In the second season's finale, September is responsible for alerting the Fringe division to the dangers of Peter being taken back by Walternate to the parallel universe, ultimately leading to their rescue attempt.

In the third season episode "The Firefly", September conducts a convoluted experiment to test Walter's resolve to give up Peter for the greater good when the time comes. In the third season finale episode "The Day We Died", a gathering of ten Observers appeared on Liberty Island to watch and comment on the disappearance of Peter Bishop from existence. Later, he is ordered by his superior to ensure that Peter's status as nonexistent continues, and constructs a device to erase all lingering memories of Peter from Walter.

However, at the last moment he disobeys his orders and deactivates the device, allowing brief apparitions of Peter to appear to Walter and Olivia. In "Novation" Peter mysteriously appears in the new timeline. After being taken into custody by the Fringe Division, he learns that the point of divergence in the timeline is that September never saved him from drowning in Reiden Lake when Walter brought him over from the alternate universe.

He also learns that, in the new timeline, the Fringe Division is unaware of the existence of the Observers. After Peter Bishop's disappearance, December tasked September with the job of ensuring that Peter stayed erased because echoes of Peter still existed. September later constructed a device to erase Peter completely but decided at the last moment not to use it. Later, Peter reappears naked in Reiden Lake in the present, while September watches. While waiting, she is met by September, who is suffering from a gunshot wound.

He warns Olivia that he has seen all possible futures and that she dies in all of them. Olivia decides to take him to a hospital, turns to get her coat, and finds September has vanished.

September lost a device when he did not save Peter in in the new timeline. It was recovered by Neil Chung, who saw the future and killed people in a way that he considered merciful.

The device was retrieved by March and December, who at that point realize that Peter Bishop has returned and that September had not followed his orders to ensure Peter's full removal from time. They all look for September, so he can explain why he had not followed his orders.

In , the Observers seized control, supposedly made possible by the studies of the scientists. They struck down upon civilians, who were later termed "natives. A secret branch of Fringe Division began forming a resistance group, including Etta and Simon, who began searching for the former Fringe Team members encased in amber. In the year , the Observers maintained supreme control of Earth. They paved over Central Park in New York and created machines that pump carbon monoxide into the atmosphere to adjust it to levels similar to those in The return of the Fringe Team marked a significant turning point in the Observer overlords' plans.

The Fringe Team joined the resistance and became empowered and more motivated after Windmark murdered Henrietta. Several close run-ins ended with the insurgents escaping, leaving the Observers reeling from the attacks as the Fringe Division began implementing Walter's Plan.

In , the Fringe team returned to implement Walter's Plan. The plan required Michael , an anomalous Observer whose mutation allowed him the enhanced intelligence of his kin without destroying his capacity for emotion, to be sent forward in time to the year when the beginnings of what would eventually become the Observers came about.

He would show these scientists that they did not need to sacrifice emotion to evolve the Observers—that there had to be another way. After September was shot and killed, Walter took Michael to himself, sacrificing his life with his son for the betterment of the world. The plan succeeded, reset time, and prevented the invasion. It is never specified whether the Observers were completely averted or if new Observers were created in Michael's image and given emotion. Observer abilities are due mostly to futuristic technology.

An implant in the back of the head aids their abilities. An implant can be given to anyone through making an incision. The kennel was swimming with blood, and a bloody track was traced from the prison to the Abbaye door where they had dragged these unfortunate people.

I was fortunate enough to be present when five men were acquitted. Such a circumstance, a by-stander told me, had not happened in the operations of this horrid tribunal; and these inconsistent murderers seemed nearly as much pleased at the acquittal of a prisoner as they were at his condemnation. The same congratulations attended the others that were acquitted and the same those that were condemned. Nothing can exceed the inconsistency of these people. After the general massacre of Sunday night many of the dead bodies were laid on the Pont-neuf to be claimed, a person in the action of stealing a handkerchief from one of the corpses was hacked to pieces on the spot, by the same people who had been guilty of so much cruelty and injustice.
