My kids totally gravitate to big fluffy frosting so they always want grocery store read: disgusting cupcakes more than my homemade ones! Thank you! Your info was right in line with hers. You guys are treading in dangerous territory for me… I want to make a batch of chocolate buttercream, vanilla buttercream, and maybe a coffee butter cream and have a schmorgusborg of frosting for dinner…. Thanks for the tutorial. That fold over trick with the piping bag is going to help me out a ton! I like the kind of chocolate that is dark and shiny…and I can only find it in a can…or on something at a bakery, of course.

Thank you for your detailed instructions with videos and photos. Although I beat the frosting a full 10 mins and it looked fine in the bowl, as soon as I filled my icing bag and started going the consistency seemed to change and it looked grainy again.
I will have to try again and just beat longer I guess. I also figured out by watching your video on how to frost that I was doing way to many wide circles-so thank you that really helped. I was experimenting with making cupcakes and frosting them. Made your vanilla cupcakes with the cake mix and the vanilla frosting. Everything came out just perfect. The texture of the cupcake reminded me of a poundcake…. Sucesso meninas! This is a great tutorial or as I like to call them instructables!

My daughter is 12 and she loves to bake! The opening of the bag should sit below the opening of the frosting tip. Fold down the top of the decorating bag.
I have seen people set the bag in a glass and fold the bag over the sides of the glass to fill. I have found that it is just as easy to fold the sides over my hand. Hold bag and start spooning in your frosting. You can usually get a whole batch of frosting into a bag, but it makes it a little harder to use. Just fill it up halfway until you get the hang of creating the swirl. Tie off the end. I bought these wonderful clips at Ikea.
They are perfect. They also sell these Ikea Sealing Clips on Amazon. Place the frosting tip at the outside edge of the cupcake.
Move the frosting tip along the outside edge of the cupcake in a counter clockwise motion. Once you make a complete circle start your next circle on top of the one you have already done, making each circle smaller as you go up.
