Coin Toss. Acquired: Once you have access to Route and can use the HM for the Rock Climb skill, you'll be able to grab this application. Head to Route and go to the resort area near the middle. Upon searching around, you'll find an area where you can use Rock Climb to get down to an otherwise-isolated house below.
Go within the house to find a young couple within. The man of the couple, on the left, will hand over the Poketch application when you talk to him. Function: Coin Toss is a picture of a coin on a table. When you hit the coin with your stylus, the coin will automatically flip. Heads is represented, we assume, by the Magikarp , while the blank side would likely be tails. If you use this with anyone to "make a fair decision" as the couple who gives you the application suggests, you should definitely clarify which is which before using this novelty.
Day Care Checker. Acquired: If you choose to utilize the services of the day care in Solaceon Town, this is an easy application to acquire. Simply drop off your first Pokemon at the day care in the town, and then leave the building, heading back inside thereafter.
Talk to the old man within the building when you walk back in and he'll hand over this application. Function: If you use the services of the day care without this application, your life will much more difficult. This special Poketch application allows you to check on the status of the two Pokemon you may have at the day care in Solaceon Town at any given time. Since they level up based on how many steps you've taken since they've been dropped off relevant to their level when going in , you can view that by simply using this application instead of having to travel all the way to Solaceon Town, and then removing your Pokemon from the day care in order to see how they've progressed.
Digital Clock. Function: The Digital Clock application is a fairly useful application for the Poketch that will give you the time. Of course, the time displayed isn't arbitrary; it's based on your Nintendo DS unit's setting. Thankfully, you can't miss it. Dowsing Machine. Acquired: When you arrive at Route , you'll talk to the character named Dawn. She'll hand over the Dowsing Machine coupled with another item before she goes on her way.
Function: This application has a strange name, but it's extremely practical and useful if you choose to use it. It could be confusing at first, as the screen is really just an X and Y-axis.
They represent the area around you, with the meeting point of the X and Y-axis representing your own location. Grab your stylus and his a place on the application; the screen will show it's been touched. If there's an item in your vicinity, it will reflect this. You can then go grab the item, or keep searching as needed. Friendship Checker. When you go inside, you'll see a young woman standing in front of the counter. Talk to her and she'll hand over this application.
Function: The Friendship Checker is an interesting application that gives you vague results. It's supposed to tell you how much your Pokemon likes you, but it's a little difficult to read. Basically, when you rest your stylus over one of the six Pokemon in your party who are, for some reason, moving around incessantly , hearts will appear. Based on the number and size of the hearts that appear, you'll be able to tell how much that particular Pokemon likes you.
Link Searcher. Function: The Link Searcher, if you have a working wireless connection and a DS that functions online as they're supposed to , will allow you to find anyone in your wireless range. Mildly useful, but due to the nature of the online function of this game, you'll more like than not know if your friends are on and ready to go!
Function: The "List" is really just an application that shows rudimentary graphics of the six Pokemon currently in your party and a bar with the approximate health they currently have. Frankly, it's ugly and not very useful, but thankfully it's given to you automatically when you receive your Poketch Marking Map.
The president will be on the right side of the first floor, in front of the counter. Function: The Marking Map is an interesting Poketch application that displays the map of Sinnoh on the device. However, there are six markers that can be used on the map to mark specific areas you may find important for one reason or another The six symbols are: a circle, a star, a square, a triangle, a heart and a diamond.
Use them at will, and mark that map! Memo Pad. Acquired: After you receive the first badge of the game the Coal Badge , head to the Poketch Headquarters at the north end of Jubilife City. When you enter, work your way to the right side of the first floor room you find yourself in and talk to the man at the counter. If you have the Coal Badge, he'll gladly hand over the Memo Pad. Function: Just as it sounds, the Memo Pad will allow you to take a short note or two if you need to remember something in-game or otherwise, we suppose.
You'll need to use your DS stylus in order to effectively utilize the Memo Pad, and you can also use your stylus to erase the screen when and where needed, by simply switching to the eraser on the right side of the Poketch.
