What is the difference between flickr and shutterfly

You can also take the video subscription service for a trial run for 30 days free. Shutterfly offers up to 10 videos with a free account; if you upgrade to a paid Premium account, you can upload an unlimited number of videos. The Flickr Pro account allows you to upload an unlimited number of high-definition videos, while the free account lets you upload a maximum of two per month.

If you order prints from any of the three sites, they will all allow you to pick them up at various stores. Shutterfly has a partnership with Target so you can pick up digital prints at any Target Photo Store. Snapfish has a longer list of stores where you can pick up prints: Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Staples and Duane Reade, to name a few. Snapfish is a printing partner of Flickr, so you can pick up your Flickr prints from the same pickup locations as Snapfish.

By narrowing it down to Flickr, Picasa and Shutterfly, you can look at what each service offers in terms of social and practical features versus cost, and choose the one that works for you. Each service offers a slightly different style of gallery. You can set the copyright and use restrictions for every photo, as well as privacy settings.

Shutterfly allows you to create Share Sites as galleries for your photos. You can set these galleries as completely public or require users to sign in before viewing your photos. As an aside to creating a gallery display of your photos, many of these services offer a series of social features to help build a community around your photos.

Flickr is similarly social, with users able to comment on and favorite your photos; you can also join groups and share with all the members of those groups. Shutterfly is a bit less social.

While you can share your galleries and photos, there isn't really much in the way of feedback tools. Fortunately, most photo services I surveyed offer support for videos. But the sites vary widely in the size of videos that they will allow users to upload.

Shutterfly offers free storage for up to 10 videos of no more than megabytes, or about 5 minutes each. Flickr allows users to fill up their free terabyte of space with an unlimited number of videos, but only if they are shorter than 3 minutes or smaller than 1 gigabyte. StreamNation offers no set limits on file or video sizes. Recovery options. The ideal backup service allows users to quickly and easily recover their files should they ever need to.

The ease of restoring your data from the photo backup services is another thing that varies site to site. If you want to retrieve all of your photos from Shutterfly in full resolution, your only option is to pay the company extra to mail them to you on a collection of DVDs. Sites such as Picturelife and SmugMug only allow you to download discrete groups of your photos at a time, whether gallery by gallery or month by month. Google, by contrast, allows users to download all the pictures they have stored on Google Plus through its Takeout feature.

Sharing options. One advantage of having your photos stored online is that, in theory, you can easily share them with others.
